System Engineer Application Production Support - AWS IBM MQ
The Systems Engineer III ETPA - IBM MQ and AWS Cloud will primarily provide second level support for the Post Trade distributed systems both on our internal network and within Amazon AWS. The candidate must have good working knowledge of application deployment and configuration methodology and be comfortable with the Linux platform. The candidate must also demonstrate solid experience within an Amazon AWS environment as well as support of IBM MQ Series and WebLogic JMS. Strong communication skills are required as the candidate works with internal and external customers for support and new initiatives.
The primary purpose of this position is to support all the Post Trade distributed mission critical applications for all of COMPANY Group's managed environments, with a focus on the AWS cloud infrastructure. The engineer is responsible for performing accurate application deployments and providing second level support of these applications.
Day to day the individual should:
Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to understand the requirements for COMPANY internally developed applications and properly integrate the applications into our AWS environment. Ensure that both development and delivery organization standards are followed
Deploy and configure applications within our internal network and AWS environments. Create automated solutions to improve the process utilizing scripts and Chef
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the application and its configuration, if necessary, escalating in a timely manner.
Document the problems as they arise, as well as actions and notifications taken during its resolution. The candidate must also obtain the correct level of authorization for actions taken during problem resolution
Understand that flexibility in working hours may be required to meet project deadlines. This may include later or earlier starting/ending times and weekends.
Enterprise Technology Production Assurance (ETPA) is an advanced and dedicated team staffed with people who have very strong Unix System Administrator and troubleshooting skills.
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related discipline is required; or equivalent combination of education and relevant proven work experience that is required.
3+ years' of Linux/Unix system administrator experience with root access in a production environment.
3+ years of working in an AWS environment, supporting applications and deployments.
3+ years' of Unix Shell/Perl/etc Scripting.
2+ years of supporting IBM MQ
2+ years of Chef experience
2+ years' experience with SQL and Relational databases (eg Oracle).
2+ years of supporting applications that use Tomcat, Apache, and/or WebLogic Application/Web Servers.
1+ years supporting WebLogic JMS
In-depth understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems and networking. Must understand TCP/IP, routing, interfaces, resolvers, etc in a Unix environment.
