Who we are
Creating a planet fueled by reliable, clean energy isn't what keeps us up at night; it's what get's us out of bed. At Opus One Solutions, we pursue solutions that will change how countries access and distribute electrical energy. From microgrids that keep things running in the event of an outage to how Tesla's latest batteries can help accelerate the integration of renewable energy. From how electric utilities can optimize their operations and reduce their carbon footprint to how every homeowner will feed energy into a power grid fueling the electrical sharing economy.
At Opus One Solutions, we believe some of the best talent in the tech industry share our passion for delivering technology that matters and that will make a difference, in our lifetime and beyond. We want to work with people who love the complexities of software; who believe in its power to transform the world to a better place.
Good people know that great ideas are everywhere and what matters most is practical execution. Turning vision into reality is the hard part. But, when it's creating technical solutions that support access to renewable energy, it's an engineering feat worth contributing to.
Our tech stack
Opus One Solutions is looking for a Software Engineer who wants to be a key player on our IO team. The IO team at Opus One takes an investigative approach by researching and testing new technologies, filling out infrastructure knowledge and bringing communications to - and between - devices. Our new Software Engineer will be an active contributor to the design of large, robust fault-tolerant systems.
Who are you?
You are a strong individual contributor with strengths in C++, Python and databases and you enjoy working autonomously to solve complex problems. You have hands-on experience solving database and security challenges as well as developing and deploying enterprise systems. You have experience with software that gets deployed on the cloud and on premise at the enterprise
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to think creatively and be innovative. Someone ready to step out of their enterprise comfort zone and into building a robust, resilient and high-availability infrastructure. This is a chance to be on the forefront of new technology.
What's in it for you?
Challenges. The electrical power grid is a lifeline to millions of people. Quite literally, this is a system that cannot go down when it comes to hospitals, traffic controls and more. Your challenge is to ensure the power stays on by building a robust infrastructure.
Personal and professional satisfaction. You want to do meaningful work. You don't just want to build and analyze things. You want to directly contribute to technology solutions that matter.
What will our new Software Engineer work on? You will:
Design and implement high quality, robust, and reusable software using multiple languages and technologies conforming to industry best practices.
Evaluate emerging technologies and open source libraries to provide recommendations.
Support testing processes, troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Participate in architectural design sessions and product discussions.
Work closely with other developers with a diverse skill set and technology expertise to provide scalable solutions.
Work in an Agile/SCRUM team setting including cross-functional structures and varying levels of management.
Here's what you bring:
The education. You have a degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
The experience. You have 2+ years developing and deploying large software systems with a solid grounding in Object Oriented Design. You have knowledge of tools for version control, requirement management, configuration management and change control
The technical expertise. You have extensive hands-on experience with C++ and/or Python. Your database skills are strong and you can quickly learn new technologies.
The passion. You are equally passionate about clean tech as you are about quality coding.
The vision. You can focus on the big picture and the details. Robust, reliable and scalable is your motto.
The communication. You have exceptional written and oral communication skills. You are a strong presenter.
The energy. You thrive in a high volume, fast paced environment.
The innovation. You have the ability to anticipate problems and provide creative, quick - and reliable - solutions to complex problems.
