Our client also offers opportunities to travel nationally and internationally when the role requires it. Travel is expected to be infrequent and of short duration.
Our client requires a talented, innovative and motivated candidate with a background in Software Development and knowledge of working in various areas of the SDLC, who will contribute to the team with new ideas and who is open to and willing to adapt to business needs. The main focus for this role will be to help build their proprietary database software, Dabacon, used by suites of applications within the Plant, Marine and Engineering products.
Team Structure and Overview
You will collaborate with fellow members of the Scrum team with other developers, testers, Scrum Masters and Product Owner to ensure software delivery is on time, feature complete and to agreed quality standards and actively participate in all scrum meetings: planning and estimating; sprint reviews & retrospectives; daily stand-ups; backlog maintenance. Future scopes of work may include developments such as Cloud development and storage; concurrent programming; database encryption and compression.
•Development and maintenance of database and other core software components
•Product integration support for consumers of the software components
•Development and maintenance of the Project Administration capability required for the Design & Engineering product range
•Participating in peer reviews and architectural discussions
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
It is expected that the successful candidate will possess the following skills:
•Background in software development , with a profile that includes operating in a commercial environment where products have to be delivered to scope, budget and schedule
•Some development experience using languages including C Languages
•Understanding of Object Oriented programming
•Working with configuration management tools such as ClearCase and/or TFS
•Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or numerate subject
Any of the following skills will be beneficial:
•Fortran or willingness to learn
•Visual Studio / .Net tools
•Experience of writing software where performance and integrity are critical
•Experience of working on multi-location and multi-national software development projects
•Experience of working on large complex software systems
•Experience of using Agile methodologies such as Scrum
