Engineer Marine Systems:
Ready to join a fast growing Boat Manufacturing organization? Our client is expanding its Engineering Department. You will report to the Chief Engineer and will be responsible for design modifications and improvements to marine systems and components. Perform designs, design reviews, evaluate constructability, help resolve technical issues, and manage information generated through the design and construction phases of multiple and concurrent projects ranging from small boats to vessels in excess of 150 feet. Continuous Process Improvement is vital to the organization and you will be responsible documenting and maintaining standard operating procedures.
Develop installation plans and machinery arrangements for all equipment installed onboard. Machinery includes but is not limited to electrical, hydraulics, HVAC, navigation equipment, etc.
Review all engineering deliverables for quality, approving them for production
Support the development of standard processes and procedures, with respect to systems and electrical engineering
Develop piping and plumbing schematics, routing plans, and length estimates
Support Production Engineering as needed throughout the production of projects
Engineer & design hydraulic systems
Specify and source equipment to be installed onboard vessels
Support the preparation of class submittals to USCG, ABS, and other regulatory bodies
Engineer and design piping systems for fire-fighting applications
Assist in develop the technical portions of change orders: pricing materials and working with project engineers to estimate labor required
Specify, evaluate and recommend sub-contract labor for major ship system installation
BS in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Experience supporting a major system shipbuilding acquisition program - preferably Coast Guard and/or Navy experience or other government agency.
Minimum of 3 years of experience with marine equipment and installation standards.
In depth knowledge of ship design and engineering.
Experience conducting naval architecture and marine engineering analysis as they relate to vessels.
A minimum of 3 years in the marine industry, specifically in the design of boat or ship systems
Familiarity with Classification Society rules (ABS, DNV, USCG, ABYC, etc.)
Onboard systems including, but not limited to: propulsion machinery, piping, HVAC, hydraulics, cooling, etc.
Working knowledge of the following software
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook)
Solidworks Electrical preferred
